Over my 33 years of being in this wonderful safety industry, I’ve been through quite a few, and different, Research & Development departments.

Frankly, it is my impression that most, end up being, at best, Quality Control departments, not, R&D departments.

Over the years, a lingering thought has frequently crossed my mind…… enough sometimes, that I actually have asked, out loud, “What (&/or where) is The Ultimate Glove”? ( or whatever, product). I even wrote about it briefly, in ISHN’s “FDO”, January 1999. Which, I might add, got some very good feedback.

Actually, when you really think about something like, “the ultimate - anything”, you probably should go to the end and work back. What is it you’re trying to accomplish in the end…. “The Ultimate ­ whatever”?

When you plan a trip, you visualize the end location and work back. So it is here…..visualize the end, “The Ultimate Product, Service or Idea, and work back. Then, think and work toward that goal or objective…..visualize it, put it down..…then hang it up as a reminder, every day, what it is you are really, ultimately, striving for, professionally OR personally.

Originally this piece was being directed to QC and R&D upper management but, then after I, got into it, I realized, with a little help from my friends, it has much broader applications.

You decide what your “Ultimate whatever” is. Then, Go for it!

Anyway…..But, a Glove you say? Doesn’t matter. Naw, that’s just the symbol I used here, a beginning…. a beginning to get you thinking and reacting positively, selfishly, as to what your “Ultimate, whatever” is then display it, proudly, for all to see, your……”Ultimate………..”!
